OR blog #5

I just read section five of Night by Elie Wiesel. In this section they are celebrating the jewish high holidays such as Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kipper. Eliezer's religious rebellion intensifies and he can't find a reason to praise God with all the misery. Eliezer starts to believe that man is stronger than God and that the Jews are God's chosen people and he decides that they have only been chosen to be massacred. After Yom Kipper Eliezer gets seperated from his father, but one day after work he found out that his father had survived the selections. But it is not very lucky because he has lost faith in God and tells of a devout rabbi who confesses that he can no longer believe in God after what he has seen in the concentration camps. In the winter conditions Eliezer's foot swells up and he has to undergo an operation. Him and his father chose to be evacuated with each other when the German army come. And that is a little bit of what happened in section five.

I've never read Night, but I know from everyone who's read it that it's an amazing book...I should read it soon. It's based on a true story, right? You did a great job summarizing this part of the book, and it definitely has me interested and excited to learn more about what's happening in Eliezer's world.
